The Enneagram and Bioneuroemoción® Transforms Our Relationships

Our relationships are deeply influenced by our personality, as described by the Enneagram. This model reveals the personality traits we developed through socialization—unconscious strategies for being in the world.

While these strategies served us in the past, as adults, they can become barriers to harmonious and authentic relationships.

On the other hand, Bioneuroemoción®, created by Enric Corbera, helps us identify key moments in our lives when these strategies were formed and the beliefs sustaining them. This discipline invites us to broaden our perspective, recognizing that every experience has meaning, allowing us to transform suffering into learning.

The Enneagram and Personality Types

The Enneagram is a symbol consisting of a circle, a triangle, and a hexagon, representing the dynamics of nine personality types. Each type has unique characteristics, core motivations, and specific challenges.

It’s essential to recognize that we are much more than a personality or number. These are merely strategies our ego uses to emulate who we truly are. Understanding them is the first step toward freedom, allowing us to connect with the abundance of our true Self. By understanding both the light and shadow of our ego, we gain a starting point for self-discovery.

  • Type 1: The Perfectionist – Focused on doing what is right according to their values.
  • Type 2: The Helper – Focused on connecting with others and being generous.
  • Type 3: The Achiever – Strives to excel in everything they do.
  • Type 4: The Individualist – Values emotional depth and originality.
  • Type 5: The Investigator – Observes and seeks understanding while protecting their feelings.
  • Type 6: The Loyalist – Focused on safety and security for themselves and loved ones.
  • Type 7: The Enthusiast – Seeks motivation and positivity for themselves and others.
  • Type 8: The Challenger – Prioritizes strength and protection of their circle.
  • Type 9: The Peacemaker – Strives to maintain peace within themselves and their surroundings.

The Enneagram Test: A Starting Point

Soon, on my website you’ll find an Enneagram test to help you identify your personality type. However, it’s important to note that test results are just the beginning of your journey. For deeper insights, I recommend a personalized session with an Enneagram specialist to refine your understanding of your preferred strategy and how it impacts your relationships.

In my coaching sessions, I first help clients identify with one of these personalities. The idea is to connect with this understanding to establish a starting point for self-awareness, eventually moving toward detachment.

The Importance of Self-Knowledge

Knowing yourself is essential for building healthy, lasting relationships. It also helps you understand the "language" of your partner or loved ones based on their Enneatype, enabling you to empathize with their needs and core motivations. This fosters empathy, connection, and mutual growth.

Understanding yourself and your partner allows you to nurture conscious, long-lasting relationships. It also clarifies the dynamics that create conflicts and helps facilitate effective communication.

Stories of Conflict Between Enneatypes

  1. Type 1 (Perfectionist) and Type 7 (Enthusiast): Laura, a Type 1, struggled with her husband Diego, a Type 7. While Laura valued structure and organization, Diego prioritized freedom and avoided routines. Together, they discovered that Laura's rigidity stemmed from a fear of failure, while Diego's avoidance of commitment was a strategy to escape pain.

  2. Type 8 (Challenger) and Type 2 (Helper): Antonio, a Type 8, criticized his wife Mariana, a Type 2, for being overly "clingy." Mariana, in turn, felt unappreciated. They learned to balance their needs: Antonio worked on his vulnerability, and Mariana focused on her independence.

In my personal case, my husband is a Type 9, and I am a Type 7. We have different approaches to decision-making and pace. As a Type 7, I’ve learned from my husband’s slower decision-making process, realizing how my quick actions can sometimes overwhelm others. Conversely, he has learned to act more decisively to avoid delays that frustrate others. Our compassionate understanding of each other has helped us find balance.

Workshops for Transformation

This March, I’m excited to host a workshop in Miami alongside Alejandra Aguiler, Holistic Physical Therapist & Wellness Coach, Bioneuroemocion® Facilitator (Instagram, mail).

We will explore how the Enneagram, Bioneuroemoción®, mindfulness, and other tools can transform your relationships by connecting with your centers of intelligence: Rational, emotional, and visceral. Stay tuned for registration details!

My Mission and Passion

This work is not just my profession—it’s my mission and passion. For over 25 years, I’ve applied the Enneagram in my personal life, building conscious, enduring relationships. When I discovered Bioneuroemoción®, it became the missing piece that helped me heal deep wounds and bring abundance and healing to areas where I felt incomplete.

True growth lies in our attitude toward life and the tools we use. My goal as a coach is to share both the knowledge I’ve gained and the lessons I’ve learned from personal experience.

If you’re ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and transformation, I invite you to connect with me. Together, we can unlock the potential of your relationships and reconnect with your true essence.
